NORTHBROOK, Ill., July 28, 2017 – Service King Collision Repair Centers, alongside representatives from Allstate, joined together for a special presentation at the recent NACE Automechanika trade show in Chicago. The two organizations proudly handed over keys to a newly refurbished 2016 Ford Fusion to a deserving grandmother nominated by Family Promise of Chicago.
The ceremony, part of the National Auto Body Council’s Recycled Rides initiative, took place Thursday, July 27 on center stage inside the McCormick Place Convention Center.
“Reliable transportation and the freedom that comes with it is something so many of us take for granted,” said Randy Jenkins, Service King Market Director. “That’s why the entire Service King family is honored and humbled to lend a helping hand to such a deserving family. It’s our hope the volunteer efforts of so many of our local teammates, in some small way, help transform this family’s life in a positive fashion.”
The deserving recipient, Glenda, is a formerly homeless grandmother who was living at the Family Promise of Chicago North Shore shelter with her daughter and ten year-old grandson. Glenda’s family worked hard to secure housing and work on regaining stability. This vehicle will provide her and her family with reliable transportation to and from her job, as well as allow her to drive her grandson to school each day.
“We are thrilled to partner with the National Auto Body Council’s Recycled Rides Program and our generous partners and technicians at Service King Libertyville,” said Jim Glenn, Claims Field Director from Allstate. “While the gift of a vehicle provides a practical means of transportation, what it really provides is hope.”
